I would say, yes.
You can get all Hindi channels in Rs. 270 base pack for all DTH brands like Tata Sky, Dish TV or Videocon D2H. South regional channels can be subscribed for even lower at Rs. 200 per month. Whereas, if you want English channels, the base pack starts at Rs. 400–500 per month. Even the add ons are expensive. English channels are sold as premiums on all DTH platoforms.
The only reason I could think of it is that DTH companies believe that customers demanding English channels belongs to high income group and won’t mind in paying additional bucks.
